Solar System Walk
Saturday, February 1, 2025
1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Compton Bridge Conservation Area, County Hwy 11c, Cooperstown, NY
Take a journey from the sun to the farthest reaches of our solar system–on foot with the OCCA: Otsego County Conservation Association!

Bill Ralston leads this thousand-yard walk that models our solar system at a scale that makes the reality of our neighborhood in space both understandable and awe-inspiring. Common objects such as bowling balls, peppercorns and walnuts are used to represent the sun and planets—our feet are the rocket ships!

Suitable ages 9 and up. Dress for the weather, and to walk about one mile on level, but uneven ground. Meet at the parking area for Compton Bridge Conservation Area on County Road 11C. Contact Jeff O’Handley at (607) 282-4087 or programdirector@occainfo.org.
